How to obtain Message Header

A message header has the transaction details from sender to recipient. The message header is especially useful for troubleshooting purposes.

Apple Mail

  1. Click on the message.
  2. Go to the View menu.
  3. Select Message, then Long Headers.

Outlook

  1. Open the message by double-clicking on it.
  2. Click on the File tab.
  3. Click on Properties.
  4. In the Properties dialog box, the headers appear in the Internet headers box.
For previous versions of Outlook
  1. Open the message.
  2. Click the View menu, and select Options.

Outlook Express/ Windows Mail

  1. From your inbox, locate the message you’d like to view headers for.
  2. Right-click the message, and select Properties.
  3. Open the Details tab in the dialogue box.

Thunderbird

  1. Click on the message.
  2. Click the View menu, and select Message Source.

SWD webmail

  1. Click on the message.
  2. Right Click on the message. Select All Headers.
