Business History
SWD (Spelunking Web Design) is an Internet service company that began operations in November 1999. SWD is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba and is a privately held company owned and operated by Mr. Roger Villeneuve in conjunction with his business partner Ms. Andrea Villeneuve.
SWD initially began operations providing web design services to both local and national organizations. As business grew SWD targeted small - and medium - sized enterprises who recognized the importance of an on-line presence to better serve their clientele but lacked large marketing budgets to fund the development of full scale ebusiness / ecommerce web sites. SWD was able to address these needs by providing Internet enabling services at affordable cost which met client’s business and operational needs.
In 2000, SWD expanded business operations to include the provision of shared hosting services. This was a natural extension of the web design services already offered by SWD and provided SWD with new opportunities to expand the business. SWD established a business relationship with an existing data centre and created their own network capabilities suited to serve their small and medium sized clientele.
SWD continues to source organizations and strategic alliances to ensure they have the best possible service available to meet clients’ business objectives and needs. By working with more than one supplier, SWD is able to provide cost effective and needed services, tailoring packages to meet client demand.
Since inception, SWD has consistently grown at rates over industry average per annum with services being provided to companies across Canada and the United States. The company is now a “one-stop-shop” for small and medium business Internet requirements.

SWD is focused on total business solutions for their clients’ Internet needs. From front end design to back end development and hosting solutions SWD strives to provide their clients with complete and fully operational network and Internet based solutions.
The business focus is primarily on small and medium sized enterprises but has not been limited to any one industry or market. SWD provides services for numerous clients throughout Canada and the United States covering business operations from SOHO to Corporate.
SWD is committed to providing excellence in three key areas of Internet based services:
- Web Design – Web Design standards with the company require that all sites are created to be clean, easy to navigate and optimized for search engines.
- Application Development – SWD provides solutions to companies that require more. Completely created to meet any exacting requirements or customer requests, applications are designed, tested and implemented by SWD.
- Web Hosting – SWD offers Shared web hosting, Server Co-location and VIrtual Private Server solutions to clients. SWD’s network environment is co-operated with Bell Canada in Winnipeg Manitaba Canada. Working in conjunction with strategic partners the network is designed for optimum security, data transfer and up-time. It is the goal of SWD to have the best operating environment for clients and address whatever concerns and needs that they have.
